The display panel industry is currently dominated by four major trends: large size, 8K, OLED, and flexible displays. The large-sized panel market is highly competitive, while OLED panels have gained significant traction in the mobile phone industry due to their superior image quality, thin design, and high screen-to-body ratio.

In the gaming industry, micro-LED technology, with its nanosecond-level response time, high luminous efficiency, and low power consumption, is emerging as a game-changer. Taiwan is working with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) to build and integrate the micro-LED supply chain, positioning itself to dominate not only in gaming but also in new markets like automotive applications.

Thermal pads and thermal tape of varying hardness play a critical role in heat conduction, transferring heat to the metal heat sink to protect LED chips from overheating, which can cause short circuits or light-induced degradation, ultimately affecting product longevity.

LED Thermal Management and Performance

LEDs are widely used as a high-efficiency lighting energy source, but their performance is affected by junction temperature. Increasing the forward current and the number of LEDs improves light output but also raises the operating temperature, leading to reduced light intensity, shorter lifespan, and color shifts.

Thin Products with Flexible Displays

When conventional heat sinks, such as copper and aluminum, cannot be reduced in thickness, the T68 artificial graphite sheet offers a thin and lightweight alternative. With a thickness of just 0.025mm, it provides ultra-high thermal conductivity, excellent temperature uniformity, and flexibility, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.


T-CON Boards and COF ICs

T-CON boards and COF ICs are crucial for managing video signals in LCD displays. Heat dissipation is critical for preventing issues like blurred screens, flipped images, and white images caused by T-CON board failures. Thermal pads are essential for transferring heat from the circuit boards to the metal mechanical parts, ensuring stable performance.

LED
Effective LED cooling technology is crucial for maintaining light source stability and extending the lifespan of LEDs. During operation, LEDs generate significant heat, and if not dissipated properly, it can lead to performance degradation or even damage. Common LED cooling techniques include using aluminum or copper heat sinks, which have excellent thermal conductivity and effectively transfer heat away. Additionally, thermal grease or thermal pads can enhance the thermal contact efficiency between the LED chip and the heat sink. For high-power LEDs, active cooling methods such as small fans or liquid cooling systems may be employed to further improve heat dissipation. These technologies work together to ensure that LEDs operate efficiently while maintaining low temperatures.
