FAQ

Properties of Thermal Interface Materials

Will there be any material precipitation from the thermal material when heated?
Most of the thermal pad products have silicone oil in them. T-Global has solved the problem of silicone oil precipitation through two high temperature chemical treatments and vacuum treatment. The company has also solved the problem of oil seepage by developing a non-silicone PC series thermal material.

How long is the life span of thermal pad materials?
T-Global's thermal pad products with their base material silicone rubber are generally known to have a life expectancy of 20 years. The life of the thermal pad is mainly determined by the service life of the silicone rubber.

Does the hardness of the thermal material change when heated?
T-Global's thermal pads are thermally conductive materials with the natural properties of silicone rubber and can be easily used for assembly at temperatures between -40°C and 200°C without any significant change.

What does it mean when your company’s thermal material is slightly sticky?
T-Global's thermal pads have the natural properties of silicone rubber with slight adhesion, allowing for easy assembly and application. Such adhesion is easier to peel off and prevents tearing than backing adhesive.
Do thermal pads come with a micro-adhesive surface?
T-Global's thermal pad is micro-adhesive, allowing for easy positioning and reworking by customers without tearing the material, making it convenient for the operator to remove it from the casing and heat sink for reuse. Please feel free to use T-Global's thermal products.
What are the materials for thermal pads?
*Good reworking performance, resilience, shock absorption, noise protection, insulation, support, EMI protection (FAM series)
*Extremely high flexibility, compression and thermal conductivity. (TG Series)
*High breakdown voltage, good thermal conductivity (L37 series, H48 series)
*Electrical insulation, smooth surface, suitable for constant temperature radiation range (GT Series)
Can thermal materials come with backing adhesive?
T-Global's thermal pad L37/H48 series come with backing adhesive, and the backing adhesive material is SGS certified, so each pad can be backed with adhesive.

What are the components of thermal pad?
The thermal pad is made of the base material of silica gel with the addition of heat conductive powder, colorants, cross-linking agents, flame retardants, catalysts and other auxiliary materials, which are synthesized through a special process to provide thermal conductivity, insulation and flame retardancy, and is designed to fill the surface of the heat source of electronic components and the heat sink or heat sink housing, as the interface for heat transfer.

What are the characteristics of thermal pads?
The thermal pad is characterized by its softness, elasticity, compressibility, natural micro-adhesive surface, good adhesion, good electrical insulation, significant thermal conductivity, wide thickness options, strong tolerance of electronic components, stable chemical properties, long service life and reusability.
How to use thermal pads?
The thermal pad is so user-friendly that you can simply peel off the protective film and place the pad between the surface of the heat source of the electronic component and the heat sink or heat sink housing.

What are the applications of flame-retardant thermal pads?
Flame-retardant thermal pads are applied in the electronic and electrical industry, typically in LED lighting, switching power supplies, household appliances, LED TVs, mobile devices, network devices, communication devices, IC chips, filling between circuit boards and heat sinks, set-top boxes, and CPUs.

How else can thermal pads be used?
Depending on the design requirements of our customers, thermal pads can also be backed with adhesive, either single-sided or double-sided. We also produce double-sided thermal adhesive, thermal graphite sheets and potting compounds to meet the needs of different customers. Basic specifications of thermal pads: 300*300mm, thickness 0.2-20.0mm; stamping and die-cutting available upon request by customers; suitable thermal tape also available in roll form.

Is there an expiry date for the adhesive material?
Yes, thermal materials should be used within three months or the adhesion will be reduced.

Does the silica gel harden over time?
It will harden a bit, by about 2-3 degrees (Shore A or 00).
